Yesterday's speech POTUS again referenced working dogs. He said, " a certain type of German Shepherd.."

The military and police have moved from using German Shepherds in recent years mostly due to bad health of the dogs. The in-breeding has caused them to become riddled with ailments here in the states where the look of the dog is more important.

Talking with k9 officers locally, they told how they are importing their animals now from Europe. At a whopping $7,000 for a 6 month old pup.

They have introduced the Belgian Malinois and the Dutch Shepherd. The Malinois made its debut through our Navy seals and has been adopted into military and police departments nationwide. The dog is keen, lightweight, extremely intelligent, easily trained, powerful, and due to the fact they breed it with other dog breeds, still considered a mutt. However, they have relatively little health problems. On average, compared to German Shepherds, they get 5 more years of service from Malinois and Durchies.

The importance of this, is what POTUS was pointing us to. So far, I have only looked at news for Belgium. Which I think is far more important than Holland. Here's a couple of items that are relevant.
