I live in farmland and anhydrous ammnia is nothing to screw around with.

It can cause freezing injury

it can cause chemical burns to skin, eyes, nose, mouth & lungs

even in low concentrations it is still SEVERELY irritating

 

and one thing often overlooked

when the fuel air combo is correct (a very narrow window for NH4) the stuff is highly flammable

 

being a heat source without carbon it is used in heat treating steel in certain processes

 

once upon a time they even had automobiles that would burn anhydrous as fuel
