shit - I am from Texas, refinery row and am surprised that they even allow refineries in the state of CA at all.
Most of the Texas refineries make plastics not gas so a wrecked refinery (which happens here all the time) doesn't affect gas prices at all.
Other states with refineries (for gas) have gas prices that are totally independent of refinery production (i.e. gas prices high no matter what)
Seems more like California wants to blame gas prices on something which isn't really responsible for high gas prices….
I remember when I was a kid - seeing a huge sign on a gas pump in Breckenridge colorado - blaming the high gas prices (like $1 more on the mountain) on taxes….even though off the mountain they paid the same fucking taxes - the sign was there so people wouldn't bitch….not because taxes were higher in Breckenridge.
