I think federal law enforcement (ahem…deep state) has waaaayy too much power. This power is usually abused in drug cases, but it works its way into other areas as well. The MSM public perception that's created is "these people are scumbags…..lock them up and throw up the key".

……BUT, it gives the government too much power. 99% of federal government drug cases are plea bargained; meaning the charges are so ridiculous that people plead guilty (giving up their constitutional right to a trial by a jury of their peers) rather than face long mandatory minimum sentences.

This YouTube star was charged with production of child pornography and faced 30 years in prison. For what? Asking teenagers to send him pictures of their butts? Production of child porn charges were meant for 50 year old guys having sex with 10 year olds, videotaping it, and selling it. Obviously, this YouTube guy shouldn't be doing what he was doing, but the federal government overcharging people to get them to plead guilty to lesser charges has to stop. It's un-American. If prosecutors are abusing tough laws we pass, we need to repeal (or change) those laws. Free countries have trials. Communist countries don't. There's too much overcharging and plea bargaining at the federal level.

What say you Anons?
