Suspect caught after seven bodies found at two Tennessee homes

SB for the white nationalist theme!

A suspect in the killings of seven people in rural Tennessee was shot and captured by police after an hours-long manhunt triggered by the discovery of the bodies in two separate homes, authorities said on Sunday.

Dozens of people gathered to commemorate the victims on Sunday evening at a Methodist church in Westmoreland, a town in the area where the shootings occurred, according to Nashville television station.

At least two victims attended the church, which had a sign for the vigil that read: “We are mourning with you.”

The suspect, Michael Cummins, 25, was in custody after suffering non-life threatening injuries during his arrest on Saturday night, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a statement.

The search for the suspect began on Saturday evening after an emergency call led police to four bodies in a home in Sumner County, about 25 miles (40 km) northeast of Nashville along the Kentucky border. A fifth body was found in a nearby home, and authorities acquired information that suggested Cummins was the prime suspect in both cases, the bureau said.

Investigators found two more bodies at the first crime scene on Sunday, the bureau said.

“This brings the total to seven deaths and one critical injury,” the statement said. “Efforts to identify the victims remain ongoing at this time.”

A young girl was among those killed, Sumner County District Attorney Ray Whitley told the Nashville Tennessean.

Cummins was found after authorities, using aircraft, spotted someone in a creek bed around a mile from the first crime scene. At least one officer fired at Cummins, wounding him. No officers were hurt.

It was not immediately clear what relationship, if any, Cummins had to the victims.

North Carolina residents flee airborne acid after zinc plant fire

Authorities in North Carolina have ordered mandatory evacuations after a massive fire at a metal recycling plant led to air quality warnings.

Firefighters were called to the American Zinc Products facility on Sunday around 20:00 (01:00 GMT on Monday) in the town of Mooresboro.

At some moments, the fire's flames rose over 75ft (23 meters), officials say.

A mandatory evacuation zone has been established within a half mile (0.8 km) of the fire due to the poisoned air.

Fire crews had isolated the flames to one part of the facility, but were required to pull back after their equipment tested positive for hazardous materials, according to local news affiliate WSOC.

According to the Associated Press, the inferno may have released harmful sulphuric acid into the air.

Trump Needs to Fire the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Before He Starts a War

The Russian Media Perspective. Thoughts ANONS! Sure look like Trump is finally done colluding!! DUCK & COVER, kek!!!

Trump needs to act quickly to get rid of the country's top general. He's Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Joseph Dunford. This general seems bent on pushing the frayed US-Russia relationship deep into the danger zone. That could lead to a globally devastating nuclear war. Some say millions could be killed in minutes.

Saner heads see clearly the catastrophe that could result from Dunford's foolishness. The New York Times, the Washington Post and countless other news outlets have cried out the danger. They just ran an AP story titled "US-Russia chill stirs worry about stumbling into conflict."

It brings a word of warning from NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Curtis Scaparrotti. He asserts that "Washington and Moscow are in danger of stumbling into an armed confrontation that, by mistake or miscalculation, could lead to nuclear war."

He's rung an alarm bell that Dunford apparently hasn't heard.

The problem, according to Scaparrotti, is that there isn't the kind of safeguard communication between the two countries that is essential. "I personally think communication is a very important part of deterrence," he said, adding, "so I think we should have more communication with Russia. It would ensure that we understand each other and why we are doing what we're doing."

Dunford, on the other hand opposes that. He petulantly whines that "it's very difficult for us to have normal relationships with a country that has not behaved normally over the last few years." So because Dunford doesn't like Russia's actions vis-a-vis Ukraine and Syria he's thwarting opportunities to head off a problem of vastly greater magnitude and consequence. His hubris does not bode well for our safety in the world.

The problem is amplified by the personality volatilities of both countries' presidents. They're prone to precipitous reactions. While Trump brags how tough he's been on Russia, Putin looks ready for a fight. "Fifty years ago the streets of Leningrad taught me one rule: if a fight is inevitable you have to strike first," he told journalists in 2015 according to Newsweek.

Noted Russia scholar Stephen F. Cohen recently wrote that the Kremlin has "officially raised its perception of American intentions toward Russia from 'military dangers' to direct 'military threats'".

"In short, the Kremlin is preparing for war, however defensive its intention," Cohen warns.

It doesn't matter whether the Kremlin's perception of US intentions is correct or not. It is what it is. Opening channels of communication seems to be the only practical avenue toward clearer mutual understanding, and Dunford's standing in the way of that.

That's why Dunford's got to go. He's currently due to serve until October 1. But it's time for Trump to take decisive action now.
