I thought i would double check the math i saw in the daily breads regarding illegal immigration and public school cost and i am glad i did. We need to be accurate in our arguments otherwise it gives our opponents an easy mental way out.

OK. So about 98,000 illegal immigrants graduate from highschool each year, and the US spent an average of $11,392 per pupil educating its young people in the nation’s elementary-secondary school systems in fiscal year 2015.

Assuming the average for all 98k students (98,000x11,392) that is

$1,116,416,000

YEP! 1.1 trillion dollars as posted in the daily breads.

In actuality it should be less than that as:

27,000 of those students come from California and

17,000 come from Texas and both spend less than the above average of $11,392 per kid.

CA = $10,467 / student

TX = $8,861 / student

So lets adjust the figure with the CA and TX #s and go with the average of $11,392 for the rest of the students

(27,00010,467) + (17,0008,861) + (54,000*11,392)

Now we are @ $615,168,000 which underestimates spending but is a little closer to the spending data (see below)

Before the "muh local taxes" arguments:

For the 2015 fiscal year, total school revenues were $642.6 billion.

Broken down by revenue sources:

Local revenues: $286.7 billion (44.6 percent of total revenues)

State revenues: $302.6 billion (47.1 percent of total revenues)

Federal revenues: $53.3 billion (8.3 percent of total revenues)

Meanwhile, as many as 300,000 migrant children could be entering the United States via asylum this year, according to a recent study by Princeton Policy Advisors published in April.
