Yeah, and in the end, did they prosecute Jefferson Davis? It was a losing case. Slavery was, for the most part, a non issue. That is, until it became politically expedient. They ended up using a loop hole in the 14th amendment to free Jefferson Davis, in the end.

Fast forward to today. The D party is losing its grip on the black community. I mean, in all honestly, it only took a little over 100 years. DJT is getting the opportunity at a census data mining operation the likes of which have never been seen. Not only could it possibly serve the country in regards to voting rights for citizens only, but is a significantly more powerful tool in long-term strategic political planning than one could ever imagine. You think the black population in the USA is a mere 13%? Think much higher.

Trump has invigorated the "patriotic" (and in some regards "woke") base, and with a little "refinement" in regards to a message of unity. The reason for this is important. The Republicans are being prepped to get a shot in the arm to the tune of a significant portion of the population of the US; all leaving the D party at the same time. The question remains whether the rebranding of the Republicans as a party built on the principles of unity will work or not.
