"Senior research strategist Charles Blahouse rained on the parade of Democrats who believe there is a viable path to fund ‘Medicare for All’ in the United States.

Blahouse — who works for the Mercatus Center at George Mason University — broke down the numbers for funding a single-payer health care system at a House Rules Committee meeting Tuesday afternoon. As IJR previously reported, the Mercatus Center found that Medicare for All would cost $32.6 trillion over a decade. And that’s using the most generous calculations. On the high end, Medicare for All could cost taxpayers $38.8 trillion over a decade."

Blahouse: "So to provide a sense of the magnitude, the study notes that doubling all currently projected federal individual and corporate income taxes would be insufficient to finance even the lower bound estimate of $32.6 trillion.”
