Looks like our shilly friends are back…..
Hang it there, don't let anyone call you a shill for expressing your opinion and then telling you it's a slide. It's not a slide to look at what's happening on the board and wondering why nobody consulted anyone here before making the captcha change or discussing why it was done.
Notice the wall-of-text effect on notables because of longer breads and how the breads at night are particularly long. There are many things worth discussing and we owe it ourselves and Q group to discuss them.
Doesn't prevent us from also digging, etc., but is yet another important part of our work.
Why is it whining to disagree? The original Patriots disagreed with the policies of the British King. I'm sure the Brits called that whining, too. But the patriots made it stick and threw out those policies in favor of ones they preferred. Name-calling is not a substantive argument. Come up with something better.
Excellent question. As you see here, those shill posts are back. The welcome page encourages us to ignore anything we don't like because that is where are ultimate freedom resides–in our power to look or not look. We already have filters; I just mouse thru stuff that's irrelevant.
The problem is that trying to get rid of shills by making it harder to post also hampers anons. It's like imposing govt regulations. Once you go down that road, you tend to just keep going, doing more and more things to limit bad behavior. Like the EU with their hundreds of regulations on toilet paper, toothbrushes etc.
I'm generally against ANYTHING that hampers free and open communications. Both for reasons of principle and practicality.
Best defense is the ability to IGNORE or filter posts we don't like. That has always been a central tenet of this board.
Thoughtful post, anon. Yes, anons are still doing what we always do. And we are discussing what we like and don't like about a new policy. This kind of discussion is not a slide, because it about matters important to all of us as anons. And it provides important feedback to anyone in charge who's willing to listen.
I'm with you, anon. Notice that the ones attacking are using shill tactics like ridicule and shaming to try to make you shutup. Not good. We all deserve better than this. I don't know why these attacks treat those who disagree as though there is something wrong with them, but it really bothers me. We should all argue with LOGIC as opposed to making ad hominem attacks.
Are you sincere, anon? Your last question suggests otherwise. Do you really care about how captcha affects bakers?
Ha-ha, I love your lightness in the face of what's coming down. I find it pretty depressing and appreciate the humor. Thanks, friend.
That would definitely be an interesting plot twist, anon. "@jack is running 8chan." Nice side by side….
Agree. I think that both the work of the board and discussions about board policies are important. One does not preclude the other.
Yes, to "keep the board as it is." I noticed changes within days (mostly BVs being too aggressive in removing high-count posts thought to be shillery such that half the notables were wiped out one night at the very end of the bread). Sometimes people just want to act, to DO SOMETHING, ANYTHING. They don't stop to think about the consequences. Seldom works out well.
