An open message to BO and BVs:

Well, you did it! In one action you succeeded to do what the shills, the fake news, and socialists have been trying to do and have repeatedly failed to accomplish. You’ve divided the board. You’ve pitted anon against anon. The sad fact is, it did not need to go down this way.

By arbitrarily, and without reasonable warning, implementing the CAPTCHA per post policy, you messed with a fundamental part of the experience users have come to rely on using the board. Most humans don’t embrace change regarding things that have become a habit or a routine part of their lives (yeah, there are some who embrace all change but they are the exception) - so - you screwed with the anons’ world when suddenly, CAPTCHA per post ran contrary to their nice and orderly view of how things should happen.

If you would have just posted a detailed Global Notable a week or so before the change, we could have avoided most of the shit storm. Even the Global we have now does nothing to reasonably explain the change or help the faithful anons understand why this change was deemed necessary. Instead, most anons experienced the CAPTCHA per post change as a rude slap in the face. By forcing such a unilateral change, you became the autocratic masters of communication here, much like the unilateral actions taken behind the scenes on Twatter and Facepalm to stifle and control conservative speech. YOU BECAME THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE! We were promised open and free communication on 8Chan and CAPTCHA per post became a throttle or a barrier everyone suddenly had to overcome to be heard!

Some have said, this change was to throttle the bots. It might do that until the shills get smarter bots. Some have said this change was to throttle the human shills. It won’t do that. They will just recruit more of their ilk to overcome the barriers. The change does nothing to help with the clowns, the idiots or the nut jobs - they won’t let a little thing like CAPTCHA get in the way of spreading their deluded sense of the world. It has pissed off a significant portion of the true anons. Maybe they will adapt and sustain, but some will take this as a sign - that their outlet for unfettered and unrestricted freedom of speech (in the form of the written word) has now been put under some autocratic control. As a voice of one, putting barriers on posting here has severely dampened my enthusiasm for contributing here. If it were not for the fact that Q posts here, such arbitrary actions would make me look elsewhere for an online community.

What’s done is done.

Moving forward - what do we need? First, whoever made the decision to implement the CAPTCHA per post needs to fully explain the change and apologize for implementing it in such a sudden and arbitrary fashion. Second, you need to assure us you have learned your lesson and such arbitrary actions will not be taken again without first properly alerting the loyal users here and when appropriate invite their input about the proposed changes. Optionally, third, you need to invite a reasonable discussion over the CAPTCHA per post change and be open to removing it, if most of the anons think it should go. Some serious data needs to be collected regarding the effectiveness of the change - and if the data shows CAPTCHA per post did little to improve the user experience, then it also needs to go. Collect the data, share the data, and let the anons decide.

My 2 cents: as inconvenient as it is to do CAPTCHA per post and as ineffective as it is to control human shills, clowns, idiots, and nut jobs, I would propose that it stay in place for the time being. If it were to be taken off as quickly as it came, I predict the bots would come back with a vengeance and take over the breads.

Tread lightly.
