China ranks 'good' and 'bad' citizens with 'social credit' system

In China, where millions of people have their faces scanned on a daily basis, authorities are developing a so-called "social credit" system. Citizens’ behavior is monitored and scrutinised – they are given scores and ranked according to rules set by the government. "Model" citizens enjoy perks such as reduced bus fares, but those with low scores lose certain rights and are blacklisted. Our colleagues from France 2 report, with FRANCE 24’s Emerald Maxwell.

US test-launches nuclear-capable Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (VIDEO)

The US has tested an unarmed Minuteman III ICBM, launching it from southern California towards the Marshall Islands in the Pacific. The nuclear-capable missile successfully hit its target.

The missile was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base early Wednesday. The projectile traveled 4,200 miles (6,759km) over the Pacific towards a target placed on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

Video of the launch shows the missile silo opening before liftoff, as well as the ascent of the projectile. The footage does not show the final stages of the missile’s flight, though it is said to have successfully hit the mock target.

The goal of the test launch was described by Air Force Global Strike Command as to “validate and verify the effectiveness, readiness and accuracy of the weapon system.” The Minuteman III is the only nuclear-capable ground-based ICBM that remains in service in the US.

Top 19 historical oil disruptions, and how No.20 will shock markets

Albert Einstein once wrote that “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Were he alive today, he would be repeating the line to anyone who would listen, especially the reporters on cable news channels such as CNBC. He might add that the world’s policymakers always approach oil market disruptions in the same way: predicting there will be no impact on prices.

Einstein would then point out that the policymakers are consistently wrong. A hefty price boost has followed every disruption.

The world has experienced nineteen oil market disruptions over the last forty years. In a paper published in March 2018, I chronicled these events and noted that the maximum price increase was predictable. Last Monday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo initiated the twentieth disruption. The consequences are projected here.

Start, though, with the energy policy insanity. In each of the disruptions since 1973, I have noted the following regarding government officials.

State Department representatives always say something like “the US Department of State remains in contact with our partners to reduce the risk of supply disruptions. There is sufficient oil supply in the global markets that countries can access.”

OPEC officials always spout some version of “the oil market remains well-supplied, with the recent price driven by geopolitics, not fundamentals.”

Nothing has changed. Last week Reuters offered this quote from the State Department’s Brian Hook, the person running the Iran sanctions program:

“There’s roughly a million barrels per day (bpd) of Iranian crude (exports) left, and there is plenty of supply in the market to ease that transition and maintain stable prices,” said Brian Hook, US Special Representative for Iran and Senior Policy Advisor to the Secretary of State, speaking in a call with reporters.

Meanwhile, Saudi energy minister Khalid al-Falih told Financial Times that Saudi Arabia would not boost production immediately, adding that “the market is ‘well supplied’ and inventories continue to rise despite the sanctions against Iran’s oil exports.”

Fake news: Mueller didn’t complain about Barr, he complained about how media coverage was

Earlier tonight the Washington Post released their nightly fake news and another one of their failed “bombshells.” The Washington Post complained that witch hunter Robert Mueller complained about the Bill Barr letter to Congress stating his findings in the Mueller report which found no collusion with Russia and no obstruction. Turns out the fake news liberal media blew another. Mueller didn’t complain about Barr’s letter to congress, but rather how the media was media coverage of the letter was misinterpreting the investigation. The idiots at the Washington Post can’t even read the crap they write. Aside from misleading with their headline, all the information about Mueller’s reaction to the Barr summary is right there in the Washington Post article. They must have missed their own so called reporting.

The timing of this fake news Washington Post “bombshell” is rather interesting don’t you think? On the eve of Barr’s testimony to the Senate? Deep State scum are working overtime with the treasonous media once again, only to see it blow up in their face, again.

Does this tell you anything about where Turkey actually stands ..ever hear of the Ottoman Turkish Empire

Turkey’s Erdogan: Muslim Brotherhood is ideological, not terrorist organisation

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has come out in defence of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood after recent international pressure against the movement, particularly from the United States, seeks to list the group as a terrorist organisation.

Erdogan said that he did not consider the Brotherhood to be a terrorist organisation because “it is not an armed group, but is in actual fact an ideological organisation,” adding that “there would be no tolerance for the Muslim Brotherhood in Turkey if they had anything to do with terrorism, and we have not seen or observed any action [from them] that indicates this.”

Erdogan’s comments were made during an interview with the Saudi-owned Al Arabiya during his recent visit to the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh, as part of his recent tour of the Arabian Gulf states.

Responding to a question by host Turki Al-Dakheel about the US administration of President Donald Trump considering blacklisting the Brotherhood as a terrorist organisation, Erdogan said: “Personally, I don’t consider the Muslim Brotherhood to be a terrorist organisation as it is not an armed group, but is in actual fact an ideological organisation.”

Army General declares, 'The future of warfare will be both familiar and utterly alien.'

(US Army photo)

The U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command and the University of Texas at Austin hosted the Mad Scientist Conference at the university on April 24 and 25, 2019. The Mad Scientist Conference brings together military, academia, and private industry experts in fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, ethics in future innovation, and the future of space.

This year's conference focused on disruption and the future operational environment. With the Army's effort to modernize the force, it is critical for collaboration between the Army and the brightest minds of technological innovation.

"Mad Scientist and Army Future Command are two sides of the same modernization coin," said Lt. Gen. James Richardson, deputy commanding general of Army Futures Command. "We need to tap into America's unique culture of innovation. That's why we're here in Austin. AFC is an opportunity for collaboration with the best minds in the world in academia and industry."

Collaboration today to solve the complex problems of tomorrow's battlefields requires significant imagination to predict possibilities.
