So many Nazis made it out of Germany: rat lines that led out of Germany thru Italy, with help from the Vatican, then out via their own subs to South America and elsewhere.
Who knows if we'll ever know for sure if Hitler himself actually died in Berlin, or South America?
That said, I'm not exactly okay with what we did to Dresden. Have an antique book that has dozens of photos of the architecture there before we reduced it to gravel. Very high civilian death count. Something about Dresden should still smell very wrong to us.
