Exactly. Legislative hearings/oversight exists so legislators can assess how their laws and appropriated funds are being implemented and spent. They are not about legislators sticking their noses into DOJ investigations. That's seperation of powers.
Legislators can conduct investigations of regulated industries as well, but again the scope always goes back to legislation the legislators have passed that regulates said industry.
