I'm from the area. Montgomery county pa is huge and the wealthiest count in PA. The only thing that is there that I had no idea that existed is a college called Bryn Athan College. Its a christian college that follows the "new Church" philosophy of Emanuel Swedenborg. Quick view of his wiki and he looks like a he was in to mysticism. Could be worth a further dig. See if there are any known secret societies aligned with that church. Could provide some answers.
