This is where people get tripped up.

Do you think the Jews were the only tribe of people whose god loved them?

Do you think that a mere god over tribes is not "really the god we are talking about?"

If that is the case, why would the grand cosmic poo-bah care about one specific tribe over the others - or why would he only evidence himself to them?

 

When you expand your thinking beyond the tribe, you realize that every tribe or people had a god. Pro aris et focis. The aris is the altar - the god from which a family descended. "For that from which we came, and the heart of our people." For god and country.

 

When Q says everything has meaning, you should probably consider the idea that he is using specific phrases to point to their historical use, meaning, and context.

 

The reality is, also, that what many worship is not a god. It is the very concept of divinity - a logical absolute that exists over all planes of existence. A "god of the gods" - so to speak.

We have surpassed the gods from which we came, in many ways. That was always the plan.
