We've come to hacking the human mind either at data validation point, or labeling point where we call it positive or negative feedback to some behavior.
The problem with undermining data validation is that convincing someone to trust a different validation process is fundamentally difficult.
People understand that relationships are both zero sum and positive sum, but the ratio between the two is heavily skewed to zero sum.
So, we are incredulous creatures by nature. The trust barrier is too difficult to cross, so we just fish for people who already have the character trait of validating data by some blackmailable means.
Where in society do we see this sort of thing? What would it look like? Would there be variations by severity? Since we are looking for shameful character traits, the event of identifying this trait would have to be public to attract the most candidates, and therefore disguised to protect the identifiers.
What is "art"?
Notice art is always a trivial thing? What are you gonna do with a painting? Can you eat it? It's useless decoration. Yet, treated as important. We can then call art an instruction: "treat this trivial thing as if it's important."
Or what, you ask? What backs this up? On a personal level, it's anger. Go tell a ballerina she's useless, see what happens.
On a social level, it's being called stupid, unsophisticated, etc.
Calling this event art then solves the problem of people questioning its purpose/value.
How then would you do the actual identifying of this particular character trait?
On a mild level, it's an invitation to dinner. At the dinner, there are people forced to do uncomfortable things. Like sit there motionless while the guests eat.
Watch for the guests reaction. Do they approach the event organizer enthusiastically, eager for the next invite?
Invite them to a smaller, private affair. Perhaps at the house of a famous power broker.
This time, it's serial killer art, paintings depicting child rape, that identify the character trait you are looking for.
The events become more private and more sadistic, until finally you do the unthinkable because there are recognizable, powerful people in the room.
Why not call it a cult and where masks too.
