Ummm

When was Apophis ever known as “The God of Chaos”?

https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/nasa-asteroid-warning-god-of-chaos-earth-space-a8896586.html

Nasa is already preparing for the arrival of a huge asteroid named the “God of Chaos” that will skirt past Earth in 10 years.

On 13 April, 2029, people looking towards the sky will see a speck of light streaking across it, which will quickly get brighter and faster. It will be travelling so fast that it will cross the width of the Moon in a minute and be as bright as stars in the sky

this is… odd

Ok some things i find really fucking odd about this:

1: Article published today despite the arrival being 13 April 2029 (not 10 years from today)

2: 13 April 2029 is friday the 13th

3: Article calls Apophis the “God of Chaos” yet this article from tour egypt (there are other articles that agree with this):

https://www.touregypt.net/featurestories/apep.htm

Apophis was sometimes equated with Seth, the god of chaos, yet the nature of Apophis seems to have always been dark and threatening, while Seth could at times be beneficial.

So Apophis isn’t necessarily the “God of Chaos”. More like the God of darkness that is a huge serpent which attacks the sun.

Anyways, getting off track.

4: For contrast and from same website:

Kek (Kuk, Keku) means darkness. He was the god of the darkness of chaos, the darkness before time began. He was the god of obscurity, hidden in the darkness. The Egyptians saw the night time, the time without the light of the sun, as a reflection of this chaotic darkness.

– The Gods of the Egyptians, E. A. Wallis Budge

As a god of the night, Kek was also related to the day - he was called the "bringer-in of the light". This seems to mean that he was responsible for the time of night that came just before sunrise. The god of the hours before day dawned over the land of Egypt. This was the twilight which gave birth to the sun.

5: So The Independent (british newspaper) is using a misnomer to label Apophis as the God of chaos, when he is more aptly the God of Darkness who seeks to destroy the light. Their claim that this asteroid arrives on 13 April 2029 (friday the 13th) ties in with past historical precedents of bad things happening on that date (mainly looking at the templar’s, but there are others)

curious about others thought on the matter, and why the british newspaper the independent thought that publishing this today was a good idea.
