Immigrants March to Oppose North Carolina Proposals
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A group representing immigrants in North Carolina is worried about state legislation it says threatens the safety of people who are in the country unlawfully.
People associated with Greensboro-based Siembra NC are holding a march in Raleigh on Saturday that will end at the Executive Mansion, where Gov. Roy Cooper resides.
Group leaders are unhappy with a measure that passed the House requiring sheriffs to cooperate with federal immigration agents, particularly by complying with requests to hold defendants believed to be in the country unlawfully. Advocates for immigrants have urged Cooper to veto the bill if it reaches him.
Another bill narrowly approved in a committee this week would require some state law enforcement officers to carry out immigration laws through the state entering what's called a 287(g) agreement.

Donald Trump Goes On Retweet Rampage About De-Platforming Of Far-Right Extremists
Donald Trump went on yet another wild retweet rampage Saturday morning.
The president lashed out on Twitter at the de-platforming this week of a number of far-right users by Facebook and Facebook-owned Instagram.
Trump first shared a video which appeared to emanate from far-right conspiracy-monger Alex Jones’ Infowars website, which itself has been banned or suspended from several social media platforms.
“So great to watch this!” Trump captioned the clip which contained the Infowars logo in a corner and featured people praising him.
He then retweeted at least six posts from people criticizing Facebook and Instagram’s decision to de-platform far-right “personalities” including Jones, Milo Yiannopoulos, Laura Loomer and white nationalist Paul Nehlen.
Infowars contributor Paul Joseph Watson was also banned. Trump retweeted two posts from Watson’s account. Nation of Islam leader and known anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan was also de-platformed.
The retweet swarm is the same tactic that Trump deployed earlier this week when he hit out at the International Association of Fire Fighters’ endorsement of former vice president and Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden.
Trump also shared a tweet from his son, Eric Trump, promoting the Trump National Golf Club Philadelphia and another post containing a video which was captioned: “The ‘elite’ proclaim America must submit to Islam or else!!!”
He retweeted that particular claim less than two months after the Christchurch, New Zealand, terror attack in which an alleged white supremacist gunman claimed he shot up two mosques and left 50 people dead because he wanted to fight Muslim “invaders.”
Trump was panned for his response to the attack when he claimed that he didn’t think white nationalism was a rising threat.
Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., railed against Facebook’s de-platforming of the far-right users on Friday as he tweeted the unfounded claim that Facebook and “Big Tech” are silencing conservatives.

Trump asks why ‘radical left wing media’ are allowed on Twitter, Facebook
President Trump on Saturday asked why “radical left wing media” like CNN and the New York Times are allowed to be on Twitter and Facebook due to their “so wrong” coverage of the Russia investigation – as he raised concerns about the banning of conservative figures from the social media platforms.
“When will the Radical Left Wing Media apologize to me for knowingly getting the Russia Collusion Delusion story so wrong? The real story is about to happen! Why is @nytimes, @washingtonpost, @CNN, @MSNBC allowed to be on Twitter & Facebook. Much of what they do is FAKE NEWS!”
Trump comments came as he also retweeted messages critical of Facebook’s decision to ban a number of controversial conservative commentators including Milo Yiannopoulos, InfoWars’ Alex Jones and Paul Joseph Watson from Facebook and Instagram on Thursday. While those who were targeted were mostly right-wing commentators, it also banned Nation of Islam founder Louis Farrakhan.
“We’ve always banned individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence and hate, regardless of ideology. The process for evaluating potential violators is extensive and it is what led us to our decision to remove these accounts today,” Facebook said in a statement to Fox News.
The banning has renewed concerns from many conservatives that right-wing voices are censored or discriminated against by the Silicon Valley platforms. On Saturday, Trump retweeted a number of tweets criticizing Facebook's move, including one by Watson, who urged supporters to "keep up the pressure" on the company.
On Friday, Trump said he was “surprised” at Twitter’s decision to lock the account of actor James Woods and that Fox Nation hosts Diamond & Silk had been treated “horribly” by Facebook.
“It’s getting worse and worse for Conservatives on social media!” he declared. He also suggested he could use his office to push back against the actions of the tech behemoths.
“I am continuing to monitor the censorship of AMERICAN CITIZENS on social media platforms,” he said. “This is the United States of America — and we have what’s known as FREEDOM OF SPEECH! We are monitoring and watching, closely!!”
