To being able to program computers to build within nanometers?

How did we ever build something precise enough to to allow that, using only our hands and eyes.

My point is that we had to construct machines able to move nanometers for them to have nanometer precision.

At one point we had to manuallly make it.

But humans can't be precise to within nanometers.
