ok fellow firefox users, what is the workaround to the mass exile of add-ons?

Yesterday saw posts about the purge but it had not kicked in yet.

When you try to replace the obseleted add ons, you get a message from firefox:

Downlod failed/ PLease check your connection.

(pic-related)

The timing of this is spurious, as the excuse stated pertained to ff version 55 and we are now up to version 66!

QUESTION for ff using anons:

How do you work around this obvious sabotage, this blocking of adding up-to-date add-ons?

sorry for red text but when my browser is not comfy, anon is not comfy!
