The Latest: 3 Believed Dead in Explosion at Illinois Plant

9:30 a.m.

Authorities believe three people missing after an explosion and fire at an Illinois plant are dead.

Waukegan Fire Marshal Steven Lenzi says crews have suspended their search for three employees due to concerns about the stability of the structure.

Lenzi says it's "not likely" anyone survived the Friday night explosion at AB Specialty Sililcones in the community 50 miles north of Chicago. He says the coroner was on scene and crews are classifying the search as a recovery.

Nine employees were inside the plant when the explosion occurred. Four were taken to hospitals and two declined treatment.

Lenzi says more than 100 firefighters from at least 30 departments responded to the scene. He says it could take several days before crews are able to resume their search.

may be old news, but the point is,

was her Facebook page taken down?

Was she 'forced' to apologze?

from the article:

“I put up a statement saying, ‘I really hate Trump. He’s causing trauma and nightmares.’ That was my original post,” she told the Kansas City Star. The Facebook post received many responses, Chappelle-Nadal said, and to one she replied, “I hope Trump is assassinated!”

Chappelle-Nadal later explained that she didn't actually wish harm to come to Trump but wrote it out of frustration.

“I didn’t mean what I put up. Absolutely not,” Chappelle-Nadal told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “It was in response to the concerns that I am hearing from residents of St. Louis.”

“There are people who are afraid of white supremacists,” she added. “There are people who are having nightmares. There are people who are afraid of going out in the streets. It’s worse than even Ferguson.”

Though the senator quickly deleted the comment, an image of the statement swept social media, catching the attention of the Secret Service and prompting calls for her to step down.

The Secret Service said it is “looking into the comments,” adding that all threats made against the president, vice president and other protected people are investigated, whether the threats are direct, implied or made in passing, according to the Associated Press.

The Latest: Coming Rounds of Rains Hold Key to Flooding

11:30 a.m.

The National Weather Service at St. Louis says rain in the coming days will determine whether Mississippi River levels will rise more than expected.

Levels at some points reached their highest ever this past week.

Several rounds of rain are expected in the coming week throughout the Mississippi River basin. The weather service says that, at best, the rain will cause the swollen river to linger at current elevated levels. At worst, additional rain will push river levels higher, leading to more flooding.

A flood warning continues for areas on either side of the river from Minnesota all the way to Louisiana, where the river empties into the Gulf of Mexico.

The Mississippi River has crested at many of the hardest-hit towns, but with more heavy rain expected over the next several days, the latest round of spring flooding may be far from finished.

The river was starting to decline at Davenport, Iowa, after eclipsing the 1993 record, but downtown remained underwater. It will likely be days before it dries out.

The Mississippi crested a few feet shy of 1993 levels at several other places in Iowa, Missouri and Illinois. Crests further to the south in towns like Cape Girardeau, Missouri, aren't expected until the middle of next week.

Other rivers in the Midwest also are seeing significant flooding. The floods are blamed on four deaths, three in Missouri and one in Indiana.
