Thank you to all of the firefighters in this blessed Republic!(and worldwide)

Today marks a special day, as it is my late mother Sharon Lee's birthday. God rest your soul, Mom.

My grandfather (her father) was a Pearl Harbor survivor who was on the USS Medusa.

He went on to be a fire chief for the US Navy @ Mare Island, CA.

I'm proud to say that he was asked by the Navy to go teach fire science to the Japanese in the 60's. He graciously agreed to this deployment.(can't imagine what went through his mind, as he only ever spoke of his experience once, tearfully)

My mom and my grandmother, aunts and uncles and myself corresponded via cassette tapes.

They returned to the States after nearly 7 years, having made lifelong friends.
