"seizes"
unless yaknow, the future belongs to whoever brings it [the future] to an end? which, while poetic, doesn't make a lot of sense. so maybe in a 'stops the future' from happening terminator way, 'ceases' works, but it would mean the future is on-going, presently, the future is happening now, in the present, and isn't 'yet to be,' and sure, while the future would have to be going on currently for any time travel from there to happen, to there, sure, but then time travel's like suspended animation, not like the traveler's wheel, which itself is a suspended animation device, but regardless, the future is now, sure, terrific, but i think you really meant "seizes"
