A court in Iran has sentenced President Hassan Rouhani's younger brother to an unspecified jail term in a corruption case that supporters of the Iranian leader allege is politically motivated.

Hossein Fereydoun, who is also a close confidante of the president, has vowed to appeal the sentence, local media reported on Saturday.

"This person [Hossein Fereydoun] was found not guilty on some charges, while he was sentenced to prison on other accusations," Hamidreza Hosseini, a judiciary official, was quoted as saying by state news agency IRNA.

The trial of Fereydoun, along with six co-defendants, began in February without the judiciary giving details of the charges.

He had initially been held in 2017 on financial crime charges before being released on bail.

Fereydoun, responding to the court's decision on Saturday, said he rejected the ruling.

"I strongly and categorically reject allegations against me in the court and some of the media, and I'm protesting," he was quoted as saying by the semi-official news agency ISNA.

Fereydoun was a senior diplomat who took part in talks that led to the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers.

Some supporters of Rouhani, who was born Hassan Fereydoun before adopting his new surname, view the charges against his brother as a move by the judiciary to discredit the president.

The judiciary has denied having any political motivation in the cases it tries.

Mueller Agrees To ‘Tentative’ Date To Testify Before House Judiciary, Democrat Says

Special counsel Robert Mueller has set a “tentative” date of May 15 to testify before the House Judiciary Committee, Democratic Rhode Island Rep. David Cicilline told “Fox News Sunday.”

Democrats have ramped up calls for Mueller to testify to Congress in the wake of Attorney General William Barr’s testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee on May 1 about his interactions with the special counsel’s office regarding the release of the Russia report.

Mueller, a former FBI director, was unable to establish that the Trump campaign conspired with Russia to influence the 2016 election. He declined to make a decision on whether President Donald Trump should be charged with obstructing the investigation. That left the decision up to Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who decided against pursuing an obstruction case.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican, offered Mueller a chance Thursday to testify before that panel if he feels the need to correct any statements made by Barr.

Mueller sent Barr a letter on March 27 raising concerns about a four-page memo that Barr sent Congress summarizing the main conclusions of the special counsel’s probe. Mueller claimed that Barr’s letter lacked “context” and had led to misinterpretations in the press.

Barr said that he spoke with Mueller by phone on March 28 and that Mueller said he did not believe Barr’s congressional letter had any inaccuracies. Instead, according to Barr, Mueller expressed concerns about how the press was reporting on the letter.

Barr said he has no qualms with Mueller testifying before Congress.

A spokesman for Mueller did not respond to a request for comment Sunday.

Trade Deal Dead: Trump Says 10% China Tariff Rising To 25% On Friday, Another $325BN In Goods To Be Taxed

So much for months and months of constant leaks, headlines, tweets, and press reports that US-China trade talks are going great, and are imminent amid an ocean of "optimism" (meant solely to sucker in amateurs into the most obvious bull headfake since 1987).

Just after noon on Sunday, President Trump tweeted that 10% tariffs paid by China on $200 billion in goods will rise to 25% on Friday, and that - contrary to what he himself and his chief economist, Larry Kudlow has said for months, talks on a trade deal have been going too slowly.

And, just to underscore his point, Trump also threatened to impose 25% tariffs on an additional $325 billion of Chinese goods “shortly.

With the tariff rate on numerous goods originally set at 10% and set to more than double in 2019, Trump postponed that decision after China and the US agreed to sit down for trade talks; following Trump's tweet it is now confirmed that trade talks have hit an impasse and that escalation will be needed to break the stalemate.

It was as recently as Friday that Vice President Mike Pence told CNBC that Trump remained hopeful that he could strike a deal with China (at the same time as he was urging for a rate cut from the Fed).

Curiously, on Wednesday, the White House - clearly hoping to sucker in even more naive bulls to buy stocks at all time highs - said the latest round of talks had moved Beijing and Washington closer to an agreement. Press secretary Sarah Sanders said, “Discussions remain focused toward making substantial progress on important structural issues and re-balancing the US-China trade relationship.”

In recent weeks there were multiple reports that China and U.S. were close to a trade deal, and an agreement could come as soon as Friday. Major sticking points the U.S. and China have been intellectual property theft and forced technology transfers. There has also been disagreement as to whether tariffs be removed or remain in place as an enforcement mechanism.

While it was not clear why Trump has decided to escalate his tariff policy, the most obvious explanation is that for a White House, which has been obsessed with pushing the S&P to record levels, this was the last lever it had at its disposal. And now that the S&P is back at all time highs, the lies can end, if only for the time being.

'Yes, We're Racists': Rabbis Recorded Endorsing Hitler, Urging to Enslave Arabs

An Israeli media outlet has released a series of undated recordings, in which two rabbis from a West Bank religious academy can be heard praising slavery, defending Adolf Hitler’s ideology and making racist comments while speaking about Jewish supremacy.

In a recording published by Channel 13 news, Rabbi Eliezer Kashtiel, the head of the Bnei David pre-military academy in the settlement of Eli in the West Bank, is telling a class that being a “slave to a Jew is the best”:

“The gentiles will want to be our slaves. Being a slave to a Jew is the best. They’re glad to be slaves, they want to be slaves. Instead of just walking the streets and being stupid and violent and harming each other, once they’re slaves, their lives can begin to take shapes”, Kashtiel said as cited by Channel 13.

According to the media outlet, the rabbi goes as far as to claim that Arabs want to “be under the occupation” due to what he described as “genetic problems” and promotes Jewish superiority.

“All around us, we are surrounded by peoples with genetic problems. Ask a simple Arab ‘where do you want to be?’ He wants to be under the occupation. Why? Because they have genetic problems, they don’t know how to run a country, they don’t know how to do anything. Look at them. Yes, we’re racists. We believe in racism… There are races in the world and people have genetic traits, and that requires us to try to help them. The Jews are a more successful race”.

In another video from the batch, Rabbi Giora Redler can be heard openly saying that Adolf Hitler was the most “correct person there ever was” during a lesson on the Holocaust and lamenting that the Fuhrer was simply “on the wrong side”.

If true, these are to prevent Israel from launching attacks on Hamas positions because they would also be hitting innocent civilians. The paradox then is that Netanyahu uses this phrase to justify precisely attacks in which civilians are ultimately victims, calling into question the ‘shield’-like nature of said humans. The operation is said to involve tanks and aircraft, while Hamas is accused of using rocket attacks which to-date have caused several thousands of dollars to a single home, and the death of one Israeli citizen.

Additionally, the former FBI Director, James Comey, who prematurely pardoned the aforementioned Hillary Clinton’s crimes using terminology such as ““no reasonable prosecutor” and “extremely careless” (changed from “grossly negligent”) wrote an opinion piece in The New York Times regarding Attorney General William Barr’s refusal to prosecute the president:
