Possible attack on US forces led to deployment of carrier force to Middle East
Bolton announces US deploying the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group and a bomber task force; fierce warning of ‘unrelenting force’ to Iran
WASHINGTON (AP) — A White House decision to dispatch an aircraft carrier and other military resources to send a message to Iran followed “clear indications” that Iranian and Iranian proxy forces were preparing to possibly attack US forces in the region, a defense official told the Associated Press.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive information, said the Pentagon approved the deployments and that US forces at sea and on land were thought to be the potential targets. The official declined to be more specific.

Lessons From the Kosher Meat Boycott
What today’s women activists can learn from a little-known uprising in 1902
By Marjorie Ingall
Last week, three well-known women activists—Cecile Richards, the former head of Planned Parenthood; Alice Garza, the co-founder of Black Lives Matter; and Ai-jen Poo, the leader of the National Domestic Workers Alliance—launched an advocacy organization called Supermajority. Their goal: to get women organized for the 2020 election. The trio could take a lesson from a surprisingly effective and surprisingly little-known women’s uprising that happened over a hundred years ago: the Kosher Meat Boycott of 1902.
