Peace in Syria will be a stabilizing force in the ME, won't fix everything but it will help.
With Russias help IRAN will have to leave Syria, and maybe, maybe we can avoid a war.

It has been allowed to go on because many of these connections provided food and "donations". There was a huge push to clean up the industry in the 1990s and 2000's, but the family ties remain. Nth Korea supplies a lot of drugs to Japan via organized crime, and sex workers. Japan wants to stop that and would replace illegal trade with legal.
Should Nth Korea give up nukes, Japan will help build farming and agriculture infrastructure and provide monetary assistance. There is huge potential for both countries to benefit.
