DNS providers serve DNS requests. They filter responses bases on the HTTP request.
Google scoops everything from the phones they sell; DNS would be useless for that, but their DNS services are there for Google's infrastructure, being a parallel construction by the [C_A].
Amazon has contracts with the DoD.
Cloudflare is run by a foundation that had enough clout to buy 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1. They do other things than DNS.

dns names are for humans. the computers are happy with the zeroes and ones.
