Hunter Biden’s Firm Invested in China’s Surveillance Tech of Muslims

A report published Friday by The Intercept brought a surprising new angle to last week’s revelations about the extent of China’s electronic spying on the Muslims of Xinjiang province. The private equity firm of Hunter Biden, the son of former vice president and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, invested in one of the Chinese companies that created the Xinjiang surveillance state nightmare.

The Intercept reported that Hunter Biden’s Chinese investment company Bohai Harvest RST, which obtains its financing from a subsidiary of the Communist government-owned Bank of China, is part of an investment pool that has made several rounds of large investments in a range of Chinese companies.

The group’s 2017 purchases included an interest in Face++, which provided the facial-recognition software integrated into the smartphone app used by Chinese security forces to monitor the Uighur Muslims of Xinjiang province. The app plugs into a massive central database that collects an incredible amount of information about Xinjiang citizens, ranging from how much electricity they use to their DNA.

Fox News: The Masters of the Universe Violate Americans’ Civil Rights

Ned Ryun, the CEO of American Majority, argued in a column on Monday that the recent bannings of conservative figures by Facebook should spark a debate about the level of power that social media companies have to regulate speech.

Ryun points out that these companies have grown to such a size that could be classed as a “publisher” or “telecommunications company.” If they were classed under either of these two categories, Facebook would likely only be permitted to ban users if they break the law

Ryun argues that the ability to speak on these platforms should be considered a civil right. Americans would not allow private businesses, Ryun argues, to discriminate against customers based on their race. Therefore, Americans should not allow social media companies to discriminate against users based on their political views.

Report: Facebook Sets Up ‘War Room’ for European Elections

A recent report from Politico provides an insight into Facebook’s new “election war room” established ahead of the upcoming European election. Facebook has previously deployed a similar “war room” in the United States ahead of the midterm elections in November 2018. In October, Breitbart News reported on the war room providing an insight into the aim of the project. Facebook’s Product Manager of Civic Engagement, Samidh Chakrabarti, said in an interview that the war room is a physical room which will be used to “take quick and decisive action” against possible cases of foreign interference during the midterm elections.

“We have many measures that we’ve put in place to try to prevent problems: the political ad transparency, blocking fake accounts, combating foreign interference, and preventing the spread of misinformation. But we know we have to be ready for anything that happens,” stated Chakrabarti. “And so that’s why we’ve been building this war room, a physical war room [with] people across the company, of all different disciplines, who are there. So, as we discover problems that may come up in the hours leading up to the election, we can take quick and decisive action.”

Former CIA official on FBI's 2016 actions: 'I'd call that spying'

From John Solomon

The FBI's reported attempt to obtain information under false pretenses from former Trump campaign operative George Papadopoulos in 2016 constitutes spying, former CIA counter-intelligence chief James Olson told Hill.TV in an interview Monday.

"It does sound like spying," Olson said, adding that "spying can take many different forms and the art of spying has evolved."

He went on to say that "the old fashioned ways of misrepresenting yourselves or approaching someone under false pretenses is still kind of the tried and true – that sounds like what happened here."
