Harmeet Dhillon: If Big Tech Has Its Way ‘We Will Lose Every Election Going Forward’

Harmeet Dhillon warned that conservatives need to take note of the threat of the Silicon Valley Masters of the Universe or “we will lose every election going forward.”

In an appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight, host Tucker Carlson discussed how conservatives have been repeatedly targeted by big tech firms noting that even the Claremont Institute was recently denied the right to advertise on Google over a study published by the institute that Google deemed to be “racist.” Google has since apologized for this, claiming that denying the institute was a mistake.

Facebook Unleashes ‘Fact-Checkers’ on Instagram

Social media giant Facebook will soon give the site’s third-party fact-checkers access to Instagram to flag allegedly misleading posts and photos on the app.

The Verge reports that Facebook will soon give its fact-checking partners at Factcheck.org and the Associated Press access to review content across Facebook’s photo-sharing app Instagram. Facebook’s fact-checking partners already flag content across Facebook’s main platform, now the social media site is expanding their reach to other apps also owned by Facebook. If a post is flagged as false by fact-checkers on Instagram, hat content will see its reach across the platform limited, as is the case with Facebook.

Twitter Blacklists Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Parody Account

Twitter has permanently blacklisted a parody account of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), as well as the personal Twitter account belonging to Michael Morrison, who had been operating the “AOCPress” parody account.

Jewish Trump supporter Michael Morrison had his personal Twitter account (@OfficeofMike) permanently suspended on Monday, along with the account parodying Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (@AOCPress) which he had been managing.

The @AOCPress account, which was popular among conservatives on Twitter, had garnered over 85,000 followers since it was created in November 2018, with over 17,000 of those followers flocking to the parody account within just the last four weeks.

CNN Asks ‘How Black will the Royal Baby Be?’

CNN is under intense fire Tuesday after the network’s writer-producer John Blake published an article with the sub-headline asking “How Black will the Royal Baby Be?”

The piece, published on Monday under the headline “Analysis: Don’t use the royal birth to trot out a dangerous myth,” apparently sought to address the flood of news reports describing Markle and Prince Harry’s newborn son as the “first Afro-American baby born into the royal family.”

“But let’s not use the royal birth to trot out a dangerous myth,” Blake wrote. “Let’s not turn this child into another ‘Great Mixed-Race Hope.'”

Google Forced To Apologize after Shutting Down Ads for Gala Honoring Mike Pompeo

Google was forced to apologize for what has been called an “appalling decision” that shut down ads from the conservative Claremont Institute when it sought to announce its 40th-anniversary gala at which Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will be honored.

Ryan Williams, president of the Claremont Institute, recounted the experience in an article in The American Mind, a publication Google said violated its standards until it relented and apologized.

“The Claremont Institute has launched a campaign to engage our fellow citizens in discussion and debate about what it means to be an American. As part of that effort, we have begun to point out the increasingly existential danger of identity politics and political correctness to our republic,” he wrote.

“As if to prove our point, Google has judged our argument as wrongthink that should be forbidden. They are now punishing us for our political thought by refusing to let us advertise to our own readers.”

The Trump campaign issues a statement blasting rogue fundraising groups after a Trump ally group was accused of false advertising.

The statement comes after a joint-report by Axios and Washington-based watchdog group Campaign Legal Center that Trump ally David Bossie's political organization, the Presidential Coalition, raised millions of dollars using President Trump's likeness and name but that money mostly went to administrative costs and salaries, and not to helping conservative candidates as advertised. ABC News has not independently confirmed this report.

The Trump campaign stated that they encourage "authorities to investigate all alleged scam groups for potential illegal activities."

US lifts sanctions on Venezuela spy chief who defected as incentive for others still loyal to Maduro

Vice President Mike Pence announced Tuesday that the U.S. removed sanctions against the country's former chief of the intelligence service, SEBIN, after Gen. Manuel Cristopher Figuera broke with Maduro last Tuesday. At the same time, Pence threatened new economic penalties against the 25 justices on the country's Supreme Court.

"I came today to be very clear. The United States will continue to exert all diplomatic and economic pressure to bring about a peaceful transition of democracy in Venezuela, but to those who continue to oppress the good people of Venezuela, know this: All options are on the table," Pence said.

Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg meets with senators on privacy

Sheryl Sandberg met with multiple senators on Capitol Hill on Tuesday as lawmakers in both chambers seek to hammer out the nation's first comprehensive privacy law.

Sandberg's appearance on the Hill, first reported by Bloomberg News, comes as Facebook circles a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over Facebook's handling of user data, which could result a fine of up to $5 billion against Facebook and a restructuring of the company's privacy oversight.

A spokesman for Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kansas) confirmed that Moran is sitting down with Sandberg this afternoon, declining to share further details before the meeting, while a spokeswoman for Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) said he is planning to bring up social media regulation at their sit-down.
