yes this notion of co-lo is relevant with the tech I'll relay 3 quick anecdotes on the matter.

1. when in Nashville the small firm I was at handled institutional retirement accounts on the first floor. It was overseen by Jr. I was on the 2nd floor in research working under Sr himself. Jr. cut his teeth by foregoing college and going straight into the bond market, years ago. When the setup this operation, it was originally in California. In Nashville, the custom built building had a server room in a basement accessible from the back exterior down a flight of stairs (like a storm cellar). At our desktops we would login to the pc itself and then use citrix to access windows xp desktop running at a server farm back in California. From what I gathered from Jr. latency was a big issue and that was the reason for using local terminals to login by remote. I'll explain more in the next point, but it makes sense asa solution for the 1st floor, I guess for the rest of us, is it was for archival purposes.

1. People in finance found latency to be issue around the early 1990s when automated trading became increasingly common. where before trades were de facto spaced apart by the time a human takes to enter the and place the order, automated trading closed said gap and made possible an increasing number of trades over a decreasing window of time using the same single terminal. As a result, bottlenecks (latency) could occur and someone elsewhere trying to place an order for a stock might find that an additional 5 minutes of turnaround occured before their order actually went through (and maybe in that 5 minutes price changed alot). Additionally you have other factors like isp quality contributing to latency. As a result the biggest players rent server space as close as possible to where the transaction will actually occure (e.g. NY stock exchange rents space firms use for servers)

2. a month or two back during a particularly fast bread in general an anon just kinda threw out that he had worked at Arthur Anderson around the time of the Enron affair. He mentioned that the machines they had for computing would make techies blush even by todays standards. He went on to say they were moving the machines out to elsewhere but they could be found if anons wanted a dig. guess what I did… thanks to qresear.ch i am about to pull my initial results as they may have a home here.

The "moving" company was texel, INC (voice and data cabling). Much of their business was with World Bank, Henrico Co. Government, the Red Cross, and random "secluded" data centers. All I can say.

honestly I thought it might make sense to you, the only bit i caught about your actual years in situ was your mentions of Mediterranean / near east region, and experience with how myth and beliefs evolve through physical features like statues and what not. Southern Company, a massive conglomerate umbrella, is the biggest power company in the region (think regional grid overseer). large building in Birmingham, and Hq in Atlanta if I recall. Anyhow: I was told from a source with reason to know and whom I deem reliable that about a week ago southern company was doing a massive enterprise lvl IT push (updates to software or switch to new software) as I can relay it in this event it was at least (physical) sitewide and an all day affair that caused headaches for day to day procedures. the person that relayed this to me cited that of all their normally accessible pc stations, only 2 at a time were online for tasks. this caused bottlenecks and stress and delays beyond the usual.

well this gets from sources lips to my ears as they explain how their company hasnt been able to pay workers this week. you see… this subcontractor my source works for got hit with ransomeware and all their data are pwned for ransome. fbi involved. This subcontractor shares / is provided access to Southern Company networks for employee verification dhs alerts and anything else they need in course of their work. i did glean from source that Soco contracts out provision of these services via a different subcontracting firm that is only there to oversee administration and access of these particular data to other Soco subcontractors.

my guess but this may never make it to news for me to verify is subcontractor pushed updates, during push adversary saw / knew to look and made opportunity to exploit. now this other company gets payload from exploit. adv. persistant threat may have just made itself known in SoCo's (and posibly paysuer / GAALT) network and therefore thIs regions powergrid. Finally another disparate but related factoid. the owner of this company with the ransomed data is immediate family of owner of a small bank here (fewer than 50 branches way fewer). that bank did / will be in notables b/c it was bank that creepy porn lawyer flew all the way to here from cali to do business with. he falsified loan documents and they loaned him 1.5 million. it hit news in tandem with announcement of his arrest for Nike shakedown a shortly before claire Bronfman found out from Judge that he had been representing her in legal capacity for 2 weeks without her knowledge.

I created an instagram account years ago to see what it was all about. night before last in light of declass announcement I went there to contact one of the few people I care enough about far away enough that I needed to inform of my new phone number and my concerns that things may get crazy in days to come. after that I got to thinking, since I am convinced its going down anyway moreso than ever and I really dont care about being banned arbitrarily I began to dump selected images I have been archiving since arriving and learning that was one of our tasks. I selected only images /memes related to the bigger picture things the older things nothing political or indicative in and of themselves as being from a chan board. Also I added no commentary. the idea being themes from the images themselves would become apparent if anyone looked through them. the context would emerge but not glancing at just one or two. I did about 10 or 15 dumps at 10 images apiece in the span of maybe 2 hours
