PROVO — A woman is in critical condition after she was shot in the head in Provo on Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The shooting took place about 4 p.m. near 334 E. Center Street, according to Provo Police Sgt. Nisha King.
The 27-year-old woman was taken to Utah Valley Hospital in critical condition, King said.
A 27-year-old man called police to report the shooting, she said. He is a "person of interest" in the case and is currently in police custody, King added.

'Denver weather: Conditions favorable for tornadoes
“Conditions becoming favorable for development of a landspout tornado or two this p.m.,” the National Weather Service warned.
There is no guarantee a tornado will form but the potential is there, the weather service said. The advisory is for 1 to 6 p.m.
Landspout tornadoes are not as powerful as most tornadoes, said Nazette Rydell, NWS spokeswoman. They can muster winds between 70 mph to 90 mph, Rydell said.
