Last time I checked, LdR's hair was longer than that, and it takes women her age a LONG time to grow their hair even an inch, so they balk about cutting it.
Plus, I don't think the body double would have slipped - twice! That's just hysterical. Those steps are probably polished smooth on account of having been there since the Pleistocene Era, and slippery from millenia of greasy people walking on them barefoot.
