Former Intelligence Analyst Arrested For Leaking Classified Information to News Outlet

Former Intel analyst Daniel Everette Hale, 31, of Nashville, Tennessee was arrested Thursday morning and charged with leaking classified information to a news outlet.

Hale, who was enlisted in the US Air Force from July ’09 to July ’13, has been charged with leaking classified documents about a military campaign against al-Qaeda to a reporter for The Intercept back in 2013 to 2014.

According to the indictment, Daniel Hale, who held a Top Secret//Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS//SCI) security clearance, gave 11 Top Secret documents to a reporter which were later published either in part, or whole online.

Via the Department of Justice:

According to allegations in the indictment, beginning in April 2013, while enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and assigned to the NSA, Hale began communicating with a reporter. Hale met with the reporter in person on multiple occasions, and, at times, communicated with the reporter via an encrypted messaging platform. Then, in February 2014, while working as a cleared defense contractor at NGA, Hale printed six classified documents unrelated to his work at NGA and soon after exchanged a series of messages with the reporter. Each of the six documents printed were later published by the reporter’s news outlet.

According to allegations in the indictment, while employed as a cleared defense contractor for NGA, Hale printed from his Top Secret computer 36 documents, including 23 documents unrelated to his work at NGA. Of the 23 documents unrelated to his work at NGA, Hale provided at least 17 to the reporter and/or the reporter’s online news outlet, which published the documents in whole or in part. Eleven of the published documents were classified as Top Secret or Secret and marked as such.

According to allegations in the indictment, in August 2014, Hale’s cell phone contact list included contact information for the reporter, and he possessed two thumb drives. One thumb drive contained a page marked “SECRET” from a classified document that Hale had printed in February 2014 and had attempted to delete from the thumb drive. The other thumb drive contained Tor software and the Tails operating system, which were recommended by the reporter’s online news outlet in an article published on its website regarding how to anonymously “leak” documents.

“Daniel Hale is charged with obtaining national defense information, retention and transmission of national defense information, causing the communication of national defense information, disclosure of classified communications intelligence information, and theft of government property,” the government said.

Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

Recall, former NSA contractor Reality Leigh Winner was arrested and sentenced to more than 5 years in prison for leaking classified documents to The Intercept.

Facebook: We're Not A Monopoly, We're "A Successful American Company"

Update: In a response to Hughes explosive editorial, Facebook has issued a statement arguing that it shouldn't be broken up because - in short - it is a "successful American company."

Instead, Congress should step in with more stringent regulations for tech companies, something Zuckerberg has repeatedly insisted he would support (probably because regulation would allow politicians to feel like they've accomplished something while leaving Zuckerberg to run his empire).

Some of pointed out that the statement, delivered to CNN's Hadas Gold…

Stunning: Dirty Cop Mueller Spent $732,000 on Private Contractors for Special Counsel Investigation But Won’t Say Who They Were

Dirty Cop Robert Mueller used private contractors for his Special Counsel investigation but won’t say who they were.

Mueller spent $732,000 on outside contractors during the investigation. He believes he does not have to reveal who they were.

Many suspect he even used Fusion GPS to help with his investigation — the organization behind the junk Russia dossier who were being paid by the Democrat Party.

And Paul Sperry wrote today that Fusion GPS may have helped with writing the final report and hit piece on Trump

Mueller only hired hard left investigators for the probe on Trump and his campaign. Mueller did not look at the illegal spying on Trump. Mueller did not ever inspect the DNC servers that were allegedly ‘hacked.’ And Mueller knew there was no collusion but continued the investigation for another year anyway.

In November 2017 former DNC Chair Donna Brazile told Tucker Carlson the DNC servers were hacked by Russians – but the liberal party would not let the FBI investigate their servers.

She blamed Wasserman Schultz for blocking the FBI investigation of the servers.

Amazon’s kid-friendly Echo Dot is ‘blatant violation’ of child privacy laws, investigation finds

An investigation into Amazon’s ‘Echo’ device for kids has revealed alarming details about its operations, including that the tech company keeps children’s sensitive data even after parents try to delete it.

Research into Amazon’s Echo Dot Kids Edition, carried out by the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood (CCFC) and the Institute for Public Representation (IPR) at Georgetown Law, found “blatant violations” of children’s privacy laws and the illegal collection of their data.

The CCFC, who published their findings on Thursday, are now calling on the FTC to investigate and sanction Amazon “because parents, not Jeff Bezos, should be in charge of children’s data.”

The Echo Dot Kids is the child version of Amazon’s ‘home assistant’ speaker device, which records and stores information from its users. The technology uses machine learning to help train the system’s AI and understand its owner better through their requests.

The group investigating the family-friendly version of the device released video footage demonstrating their attempts to delete sensitive data.

“Amazon markets Echo Dot Kids as a device to educate and entertain kids, but the real purpose is to amass a treasure trove of sensitive data that it refuses to relinquish even when directed to by parents,” said Josh Golin, CCFC’s Executive Director.

Golin went on to claim that Amazon are in clear violation of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and called on the FTC to hold the company accountable for “blatantly violating children’s privacy law and putting kids at risk.”

Amazon spokeswoman Kinley Pearsall said the Echo Dot Kids Edition is “compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act,” but failed to address any of the specific issues raised in the complaint, reports the Washington Post.

Amazon’s ‘Alexa’ has been the center of a series of privacy breaches since it came to the market in late 2014, including accusations of eavesdropping on thousands of users and leaking private information to strangers.

New York Wants to Force All Gun Owners to Buy a Million Dollar Liability Policy

New York state is still busily chipping away at gun rights and now they’ve introduced Obamacare for guns. Legislators are hard at work trying to force every gun owner in the state (who isn’t a cop or active military) to purchase and maintain a minimum $1 million liability insurance policy.

§ 2353. FIREARM OWNERS INSURANCE POLICIES. 1. ANY PERSON IN THIS STATE WHO SHALL OWN A FIREARM SHALL, PRIOR TO SUCH OWNERSHIP, OBTAIN AND CONTINUOUSLY MAINTAIN A POLICY OF LIABILITY INSURANCE IN AN AMOUNT NOT LESS THAN ONE MILLION DOLLARS SPECIFICALLY COVERING ANY DAMAGES RESULTING FROM ANY NEGLIGENT OR WILLFUL ACTS INVOLVING THE USE OF SUCH FIREARM WHILE IT IS OWNED BY SUCH PERSON. FAILURE TO MAINTAIN SUCH INSURANCE SHALL RESULT IN THE IMMEDIATE REVOCATION OF SUCH OWNER’S REGISTRATION, LICENSE AND ANY OTHER PRIVILEGE TO OWN SUCH FIREARM. (source)

Hmmm…privilege? I had no idea it was called constitutional privileges. I’m going to have to go back and fix some articles really quickly where I called them “rights.”

New York wants to make it impossible to own a gun. Although the bill clearly states it’s been read twice, it’s rife with grammatical errors, almost to the point of illiteracy. (I italicized them for ya.) But I digress. Under the heading “Justification” the bill states:

Injury and death by gun has increasingly become a problem in U.S. and in New York State. In the wake of recent mass shooting incidents in Aurora, Colorado and Newtown, Connecticut; there has been a nationwide attention on gun control and public safety.

According to FBI Crime Report, there were 445 firearm murderin New York in 2011 and 517 firearm murder in 2010. However, there is little attention on the economic impact these shootings have on the victims and their families.

This legislation establishes and requires gun-owners to obtain and maintain liability insurance policy prior to such ownership. By having this insurance, policy in place, innocent victims of gun-related accidents and violence will be compensated for the medical care for their injuries.

In such cases where the gun was stolen, the original owner is typically not liable unless the weapon was stolen through negligence on the part of the owner.

This insurance policy will also serve as an incentive for firearm owners to implement safety measures in order to conduct the activity as safely as possible and only when necessary.

This isn’t the first time recently that New York has proposed something outrageous.

Christian star athlete posts what Bible says about homosexual behavior. Now Rugby Australia wants him gone.

'I'll stand on what the Bible says'

Israel Folau is a star rugby player and a devout Christian who isn't afraid of expressing his religious beliefs.

But stating those beliefs has landed the 30-year-old in hot water with Rugby Australia, which said one of his social media posts warrants termination of his contract, CNN reported, which is worth $4 million.

Folau's Instagram post last month — which has not been deleted — listed a "warning" to "drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists, idolaters," and then noted underneath the list, "Hell awaits you. Repent! Only Jesus saves."

"Those that are living in sin will end up in Hell unless you repent," he added in the caption. "Jesus Christ loves you and is giving you time to turn away from your sin and come to him."

Folau also quoted the King James version of Galatians 5:19‭-‬21, from which his Instagram post was inspired — and features a much longer list of wrongdoings.

How did officials react?

The rugby league issued Folau a code of conduct breach in April, CNN said, and he requested a hearing. After the three-day hearing, Rugby Australia found Folau guilty, the network noted.

"The panel has today provided a judgement that Israel Folau committed a high-level breach of the Professional Players' Code of Conduct with his social media posts on April 10, 2019," Rugby Australia said in a news release, Reuters reported.

The disciplinary panel said it will "take further written submissions from the parties to consider the matter of sanction. A further update will be provided after the panel delivers its decision on sanction," CNN said.

Folau plays fullback for the Wallabies and was expected to star for his country at this year's World Cup, the network said, adding that his contract with Rugby Australia runs through 2022. Folau was warned last year after making a comment on social media saying that gay people would go to hell unless they repented, CNN added.

'I'll stand on what the Bible says'

Citing an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald last month, CNN indicated Folau refused to apologize for the post.

"I'll stand on what the Bible says," he said. "I share it with love. I can see the other side of the coin where people's reactions are the total opposite to how I'm sharing it."

Reuters said a local media report indicated Folau and his advisers last week rejected a $1 million offer to walk away from the game.

US shuts down dark web marketplace; 2 Israelis charged

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A gateway to illegal marketplaces on the darknet has been shut down, the FBI announced Wednesday, and two of its alleged operators have been arrested and accused of making millions of dollars in kickbacks for their services.

A grand jury in Pittsburgh returned indictments against the two Israelis on charges of money laundering conspiracy. They’re accused of receiving more than $15 million from the operation, which ran from Oct. 2013 through this week, prosecutors said.

Both were arrested Monday, one in France and the other in Israel.

The website was identified as DeepDotWeb, accessible under a slightly different name on the darknet, part of the internet but hosted within an encrypted network and accessible only with anonymity-providing tools.

DeepDotWeb provided users with access to marketplaces where vendors sold everything from illegal narcotics such as fentanyl, heroin and crystal methamphetamine; to assault rifles, malicious software, hacking tools and stolen financial information.

U.S. Attorney Scott Brady called DeepDotWeb “a one-stop information center for people who were trying to access the dark web.”
