It’s not the first time Correia has left town without notifying other elected officials.

Last summer, he left the country twice without informing the City Council.

Last May, Ponte had to step in temporarily to sign orders that were time-sensitive when Correia was out of the country.

Correia is unable to leave the country, having relinquished his passport after he was arrested in October and pleaded not guilty to 13 counts of wire and tax fraud.

A condition of Correia’s bail is that he gives his probation officer notice if he is leaving the state for more than a day.
