We are going into a period of diminished solar activity, no question about that. No one is sure how it's going to affect climate. Our best example of what actually happens in this kind of situation is the Maunder minimum, when sunspots disappeared, and a mini ice age struck Europe, with the Thames freezing over.
If you really only have one example in history of a quiet sun, and it coincides with an ice age, then you should get at least as alarmed as they keep telling us to do about global warming. We should be stockpiling food and fuel against the odds.
More cosmic rays will hit, due to the diminished solar magnetic field. Will this mean mutations? Inspirations? Who can tell.
