House Dems Subpoena Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, IRS Chief Over Trump’s Tax Returns

Another day, another subpoena.

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal (D-MA) on Friday subpoenaed Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and IRS Chief Charles Rettig for the last six years of President Trump’s personal and business tax returns.

Mnuchin and Rettig have until next Friday to turn over the subpoenaed documents according to the Washington Post.

“The IRS is under a mandatory obligation to provide the information requested,” the subpoena states. “The IRS has had more than four weeks to comply with the Committee’s straightforward request. Therefore, please see the enclosed subpoena.”

“On April 3, I requested six years of the President’s personal and business tax returns… Unfortunately, the Treasury Department and the IRS have denied my reasonable request. Despite the agency’s denial, we on the Ways and Means Committee are still moving forward with our inquiry,” Neal said in a statement.

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin on Monday formally rejected House Democrats’ request for President Trump’s tax returns.

Mnuchin told House Ways and Means Chairman Richard Neal in a letter that his committee’s request for Trump’s tax returns “lacks a legitimate legislative purpose.”

“Out of respect for the deadlines previously set by the Committee, and consistent with our commitment to a prompt response, I am informing you now that the Department may not lawfully fulfill the Committee’s request,” Mnuchin said, citing legal guidance from the Department of Justice.

Rep. Richard Neal, sent a letter to the IRS last month demanding President Trump’s tax returns for 2013 through 2018 as well as for several of Trump’s businesses.

“We’re under audit,” Trump told reporters last month. “Despite what people said and we’re working that out — I’m always under audit it seems — I’ve been under audit for many years because the numbers are big and guess when you have a name, you’re audited.”

“Until such time that I’m not under audit, I would not be inclined to do that,” Trump said.

The Democrat-media complex is gunning for Trump’s tax returns — On Wednesday evening, the New York Times obtained and published 10 years of Donald Trump’s tax documents from his federal income tax returns — for the years 1985 – 1994.

Currently there is no law requiring a US president/presidential candidate release their tax returns, but the Democrats don’t care about laws — they want to harass President Trump.

This legal battle over Trump’s taxes could find its way to the Supreme Court.

‘The Left Has Substituted Itself for God’

Dennis Prager, bestselling author, radio host, and founder of PragerU, told Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow on Friday that “the left has substituted itself for God.” He went on to tell the SiriusXM Breitbart News Daily host that America’s growing secularization is a threat to the nation’s central values.

“It is not possible to build a great society on a secular foundation,” declared Prager. “America was built [on the Bible]. This was the text. Abraham Lincoln kept it on his nightstand, and he didn’t even go to church. Until the twentieth century, it was the one common piece of writing for all Americans, whether they were Christian or not. This was the centerpiece.”

Prager added, “If the world lived by the Ten Commandments, you wouldn’t need locks on your doors. There would be no police force. The recipe for a good world is in the Bible. … The Ten Commandments is the central piece of the central part of the Bible. That’s the reason I began with Exodus.”

Genesis’s story of Adam and Eve eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge foreshadowed the modern era’s moral crises, assessed Prager.

Prager explained, “When the serpent tempts Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge — after all, God had only asked them to do one thing: not eat from this tree — [he] says, ‘You’ll eat from that, and you’ll be like God. You’ll determine good and evil.’ It says, ‘Know good and evil,’ and that is correct. That is what the Hebrew says, but it really means ‘determine good and evil.'”

Prager went on to say, “That is exactly what has happened in the post-Judeo-Christian — specifically, post-Christian — West, that people have become gods. That’s exactly what it is. The left has substituted itself for God. We determine what is right and wrong.”

Prager warned of the limitless pursuit of power. “People want to determine good and evil. The idea that there is a God who told me not to steal and honor my parents is repugnant to these people. Who needs a god? I will tell me, and I will tell you, and I will tell you everything. I will tell you where to live. The ideal for the anti-religious crowd is to tell you — like God does — as much as possible in directing your life.”

Marlow said, “The left ultimately believes that God just agrees with them. That seems to be their viewpoint. ‘Whatever I believe, that must be God’s position.’ It is so unbelievably scary when you think of it that way.”

Prager concurred. “That is exactly right. … That is how they think.”

Why is the free pharmacy that services the U.S Congress “routinely filling prescriptions for drugs that treat Alzheimer’s disease”?

DOES CONGRESS HAVE A DEMENTIA PROBLEM?

This November marks 40 years since President Richard Nixon stood in front of America and said “people have got to know if their president is a crook.”

Of course, Nixon was knee-deep in his own muck. But he was also making a great point: Don’t Americans deserve to know any fact about our politicians that would keep them from doing the job they were elected to do?

They could be compromised by corruption, sure. But it could also be something outside of their control, like aging and the onset of mental incapacity. While these are sensitive topics, we’d be doing a disservice to democracy by not discussing them. People have got to know if their politicians are well.

In early October, we learned that many members of Congress get prescriptions hand-delivered by Grubb’s Pharmacy, the oldest dispensary in town.

A cool perk that nobody else in America has? That’s par for the course in Washington. But there’s more to the story and it should alarm every American. Mike Kim, the owner of Grubb’s, told STAT News that he is routinely filling prescriptions for drugs that treat Alzheimer’s disease. For members of Congress!

If pharmacists are shipping Alzheimer’s medication to Capitol Hill, then some number of congressmen are medically unqualified to hold office. And we don’t know which ones or how many. They could be back-benchers or they could be sitting at the upper tiers of leadership, making decisions of global significance. Since one’s rank in Congress is based mostly on seniority, the oldest members have the most power. Terrifying.

“At first it’s cool, and then you realize, I’m filling some drugs that are for some pretty serious health problems as well. And these are the people that are running the country,” Kim, the pharmacist, said. “It makes you kind of sit back and say, ‘Wow, they’re making the highest laws of the land and they might not even remember what happened yesterday.’”

According to Kevin King of Quorum Analytics, the 115th Congress (2017-2018) is among the oldest in history, with the average age of a representative at 57 and the average age of a senator at 61 — up from 49 and 57 respectively in 1981.

King reports that there are 44 congressional districts in which the age of the representative is more than double the median age of his or her constituents.
