Associates of slain Saudi Arabian journalist Jamal Khashoggi have been told that they have become targets after blaming his death on Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Time reported.

At least three friends and colleagues of Khashoggi have received security briefings in recent weeks after the CIA became aware of threats to them and their families, the magazine reported Thursday, citing unnamed individuals familiar with the threats and security services in two countries.

Each of three people – Iyad El-Baghdadi of Norway; Omar Abdulaziz of Canada; and a person in the U.S. who asked to be anonymous — were described by the magazine as pro-democracy advocates who worked closely with Khashoggi prior to his passing and have attempted in the months since to hold the Saudi leader responsible.

https://nypost.com/2019/05/11/experts-claim-top-selling-world-war-ii-book-is-filled-with-made-up-quotes/

A top-selling Amazon book that tells the story of D Day from the German soldiers’ view is likely a fraud — filled with made-up quotes from veterans who never existed, according to The Times of London.

Experts are shooting holes in the work of Holger Eckhertz, who claimed the accounts in his hit book “D Day Through German Eyes” were collected by his journalist grandfather, it says.

But historians can’t locate any references to soldiers quoted in the book, which ranked no. 4 in Amazon’s top 10 World War II titles — or even the author himself, whose name is not listed in any phone directory in Germany or Britain.

Nor could The Times locate information about the book’s purported publisher, DTZ History Publications, or translation service.

“There’s no record of any of the soldiers in any other publication,” said Giles Milton, who wrote his own book about D Day and was among three experts who said they found the work suspicious.

“If you put in any other soldier [into a search engine] you will find a trace of them somewhere, even in the Bundesarchiv,” he said, referring to the national archives of Germany.

“D Day Through German Eyes” says it includes exclusive interviews with German forces about the blood-soaked battle at Normandy done in the 1950s by Dieter Eckhertz, a German journalist who wrote Nazi propaganda.

http://uawire.org/media-turkey-may-cancel-purchase-of-s-400-missile-systems-from-russia

The Bild newspaper, citing Turkish diplomatic circles, reported that Turkish authorities, apparently, intend to reconsider their decision to purchase the S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems from Russia.

According to the newspaper, in Ankara, it is associated with a sharp deterioration of the country’s economic situation, decrease of Turkish lira rate and fear of the possible sanctions by the United States because of this deal with Russia.

“The matter of supplying S-400 in July, as the Turkish president said, will not materialize, because the purchase will lead to Washington’s sanctions, and in the light of the current decline in the lira rate, this would mean an economic collapse of Turkey,” writes Bild.

According to the newspaper’s source, “the economic crisis in Turkey is aggravated by Ankara’s aggressive foreign policy. Earlier, the German ambassador to Turkey, Martin Erdman, spoke against the purchase of anti-aircraft missile systems from Russia. "We want Turkey to remain a solid part of the Western alliance, and we are very concerned about the purchase of the S-400," he said at a conference in Istanbul.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/penn-state-prof-moonlighting-as-uber-driver-accused-of-kidnapping-report

A Penn State assistant professor moonlighting as a Uber driver has been accused of two counts of kidnapping, according to a report Saturday.

Richard Lomotey, 36, is an assistant professor of information sciences and technology at Penn State Beaver in Monaca, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. He is also a part-time University of Pittsburgh instructor.

The accusations against Lomotey stem from a reported kidnapping around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, the paper reported.

“Responding officers from Zone 4 found two women who said they had taken an Uber with a male driver,” spokesman Chris Togneri told Fox News without identifying the driver by name. “The driver commented on their looks and did not follow the GPS directions to the requested address.”

Togneri said the women told police the driver pulled over at an intersection, put the car in park and said, “You're not going anywhere.”

The women said the driver tried to activate the door locks, but one of them was able to open a door and jump out from the backseat, the spokesman said. The other woman also jumped out and they ran from the car while shouting for help.

“Police identified the suspect by his Uber app identification and photo,” Togneri said.

He said police searched in the area for the car but did not find it.

Togneri said police were obtaining an arrest warrant for kidnapping, harassment and false imprisonment.

Emails from Fox News to Lomotey and to a spokesman for Penn State seeking comment were not immediately returned.
