Donald Francis McGahn II (/dɒn məˈɡæn/; born June 16, 1968) is an American lawyer who served as White House Counsel for U.S. President Donald Trump, from the day of his inauguration through October 17, 2018. In his 21-month tenure he forged several of President Trump's most significant accomplishments, including two appointments to the Supreme Court. In June 2017, Trump allegedly ordered him to remove special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III. McGahn refused, testified to Mueller against Trump, and later resigned.[1][2] Previously, he served on the Federal Election Commission for over five years.
