Its also how you know they were gearing up towards their endgame plans. They were using American wealth to Prop up China as a temporary Cash Cow/Foot soldier, while simultaneously weaking us for destruction and reconstruction. China doesnt have the right conditions for lasting toughness and wealth like America does. So no risk for them of China doing to them what we are doing now.
