>TACAMO E-6B "doomsday" plane

Doomsday Plane.

OK. Doomsday scenario's. ELE's, extinction level events.

Asteroid/meteor strike. A plane can take you away from the impact zone and take you somewhere safer in the short term, but you're going to have to land somewhere and deal with it. Then you need a Doomsday bunker.

All out Thermonuclear war. A plane can take you to a safer, non targeted place, but you're going to have to land eventually. Then you need a Doomsday bunker.

Global pandemic. A plane can take you to a place that isn't infectious yet, but then you need a Doomsday bunker. (With good air filtration).

Lithospheric decoupling. A plane can provide temporary respite from the geological chaos on the surface and avoid the supersonic winds as the "earth stands still", but you're going to have to have the range and endurance to get to somewhere less impacted so you can land. Then you're going to need a Doomsday bunker to weather the months or years of volcanic ash fall, geologic "nuclear" winter, and the inevitable famine that will ensue.

Looks to me like the Doomsday plane is just part of the equation for Continuation of Government/Continuation of Civilization.

So, are there Doomsday bunkers scattered about the earth?

> the purpose of the E6B plane is not to transport people

Yup, got that. It's just the "Doomsday plane" thing that got me off on this tangent. I would think the E6 was just part of a larger equation that would gather the intel needed to choose the "right" bunker whatever the circumstances and facilitate the relocation of………who? What?

Makes me think of Dr. Strangelove.

>C2 bunkers all over the place

Yes there are, and in some unlikely places. There were disbursed airfields all over the intermountain west for training and "fall back" purposes during WWII. I have visited many of them and all of them seem to have some features that could only be associated with C2 functions. Many are now administrated/maintained by State governments, but maintained they are. These are located just east of BFEE.

Is the Pink House restaurant still open? They had some fine steak dinners 40 years ago. Little know fact, up to a certain elevation around Washoe Lake homeowners have to have flood insurance in the event Lake Tahoe drains to the east.
