An orbital weapon only works in its own vicinity, which keeps moving at 18,000 mph.
The concept makes more sense if its designed to hit ground targets. The individual rods or lancets don't have to be massive, unless you are going for deep bunkers. Pinpoint accuracy and fast action. No interception possible, which is what scared the Russians. Thats why I think one was used with Russian permission to make the Russian Flash/boom on 7 Jan.
It could also be used to hit other targets in space- orbital satelites or transiting ICBMs. But only within a limited range near the OWLS. Plan "B" if NK's ICBMs can be made to work?
