> My dad fought in Korea at Chosin in the horrible winter, a marine

I served early on with a lot of Pacific War vets and Korean War vets. The Chosin campaign was what they remembered the most vividly. Bad weather, bad equipment, bad support, bad intel. And a gorillion chicom suiciders. In my estimation, the Korean War vets stand right up there with those poor doughboys in Belleau Wood, the entire Pacific campaign, and all the Marines who fought in all the fucking bankers wars since then. We thought we were doing the right thing. We were betrayed, and I'm not forgiving of betrayal. I am Semper Fi.

>I am my father's daughter

I have four daughters. Though their service has been in wildland fire, they are some of the finest "Marines" I've ever known. Service knows no gender, no religion, no ethnicity. It is just giving back "In Service", to our fellow man. Sorry if that came out sexist, my kids got over it a long time ago. Thank you for putting up with some crusty old bastards on Mothers Day.

>Too much art and furniture squandered, but your line of thinking is not unreasonable.

Yes, Spot on! Most art was "commissioned" by the elites from artists that were not much more than serfs who couldn't or wouldn't do manual labor for the "masters". Almost all of classic art was done by "emplyoyee's".

Destroy the political structure, leave the art intact.
