Durham connection to Whitey Bulger/Mueller:
Connecticut U.S. Attorney John Durham tapped to lead Russia investigation review
Connecticut U.S. Attorney John Durham has been appointed to review the beginnings of the Russia investigation by Attorney General William Barr, according to an official familiar with the matter.
A career federal prosecutor, Durham has a long history as a go-to leader for sensitive investigations going back two decades and for presidential administrations of both parties.
A veteran mob prosecutor, Durham was appointed U.S. Attorney for Connecticut by Trump in 2017, capping a 40-year career marked by high-profile corruption cases and investigations into controversial intelligence issues.
In the late 1990s, Durham was tapped by Bill Clinton’s justice department to investigate Boston police and FBI agents’ connections with infamous gangster James “Whitey” Bulger. That investigation ultimately identified corrupt law enforcement officials who had given the killer information he then used to kill informants and eventually became a part of the case that led to Bulger’s conviction.
