I'd find that price point difficult to believe. When I was waiting for my clearance, they sent agents to my place of employment, my school and throughout my neighborhood asking about me. This was 35 years ago. Back then, the rumoured investments was in the ballpark of $100K expense to our gubbermint for our clearances. That was a BIG reason why many of my colleagues were gobbled up by big tech/mfg firms; it saved them the costs of funding the background checks.
