I was near Santa Rosa during the Tubbs Fire. I saw shit that just does not happen. "Oh, jet fuel melts steel!" Yeah, well apparently "forest fires" do too.
I saw large trees in well manicured areas (woodchips, not grass) with burn damage on the base at ground level only. I saw large steel I beams in a v shape almost touching the ground.
You've probably already seen it. There is a good video on youtube with a retired fire chief named John Lord. He was fire chief for like 30 + years.
