NYC police blast Bill de Blasio's 2020 run: 'He would be an unmitigated disaster'

The largest police union in New York City came out swinging against Mayor Bill de Blasio’s 2020 presidential run, saying he has shown “no interest” in running the city and would be an “unmitigated disaster” for the country.

Patrick J. Lynch, the president of the Police Benevolent Association of the City of New York, issued a statement Thursday shortly after Mr. De Blasio announced he was throwing his hat into the crowded 2020 Democratic presidential field.

“It is laughable that a mayor who has shown no interest in running New York City for six years now says he wants to mismanage the entire country,” Officer Lynch wrote.
