Morning anons, have a theory i would like some input /assistance with digging ideas
Been chewing on this overnight and I think I might have something.
THEORY
Many of the newspapers, magazines, and online “news” organizations were non profitable until the repeal of the smith mundt act in 2013. They then began receiving funds from the US govt to push propaganda onto the US populace. One President Trump came into office, he shut off that supply line, which is why we now see so many of the organizations closing up shop, downsizing, and restructuring. They couldn’t keep their bloated budgets afloat without the steady influx of these funds. So where did these funds come from? Remember Obama’s “justice” slush fund? Pushing funds to leftist organizations? I believe those funds were given to third party organizations, who then gave money to these news organizations to push leftist propaganda.
So the things i would need help trying to figure out:
1: Where would be a good place to find publicly available data on news organizations profitability prior to 2013, between 2013 and 2017, and then after 2017? (looking specifically at Salon.com and huffingtonpost as they are what I personally perceive as the most obvious cases of this).
2: Articles on the Smith-Mundt Act - not the act itself, but pro or con articles indicating bias by organizations who could be shown as having it affect their bottom line.
3: Articles regarding Obama’s slush fund accounts and who they paid out to.
4: Articles showing connections between these leftist organizations and news organizations indicating the plausibility of them feeding funds to support their causes. This may be something of a open secrets style search if the leftist organizations are considered a “non-profit”.
Definitely could use some help with this anons. I’m willing to dig and compile the information but could use help finding source data.
Thank you!
