I think about what is it in the mind that leaves one with the inability to have no 'moral compass', unable to differentiate between right and wrong. Perhaps they're born that way where that part of the brain isn't functional, maybe dna or perhaps psychoactive drugs wears away at the brain tissue creating a psychopathic mindset.
I've often thought that part of the reason why drug addicts use is because it alleviates their conscious temporarily because they can't bear to stand the guilt and shame of their demoralizing behavior sober for any length of time, but those that recover get structure and return to a normal conscious.
