You know, don't you, that 8ch renders every image as a thumbnail that you can click to get the fullsize image? Just wanted to make sure you knew. We deal in fullsize images in our meme archive and when dropping on social media.

Here's a bit of it

Tools

• Instant background removal: https://www.remove.bg/ Recommended! Excellent results, great time-saver

• Memegenerators: https://imgflip.com/memegenerator , http://kek.gg/draw/

• Apps: gimp, MS Paint, Adobe Photoshop, Inkscape, etc.

Meme Makers

Image Size We recommend

• 1200x1200 for Insta

• 1200x627 for Twitter + Facebook

• Top memeanons often make 2 images, one each size.

Filetype: Unless it's a transparent-background .png, scalable vector graphics drawing, or predominantly text, we prefer .jpg to minimize file size. How? After creating image, "Export As," select .jpg filetype. To shrink files even more, try 90% quality with no significant fidelity loss. Text MUST be readable. If you can't read it, neither can they! Please spell-check.

8ch BUG ALERT - AFFECTS GRAPHICS FILENAMES

Until fixed, ensure that .jpeg files are named .jpg

8ch's back-end shouldn't treat .jpg / .jpeg differently, but it does

Beware Twitter image truncation!

• Images for Twitter should be 2:1 shape, e.g. 1200 wide x 627 high

• Twitter shrinks larger images to 1024 x 512, and mangles wrong-shaped images

Download Tips

• Browser: Click thumbnail to open fullsize image

–Right click fullsize image and download to your device

–Download fullsize images, not thumbnails

–On social media, post your local copy of the image, not a link to 8ch

((( –Advanced tip to keep original filenames: Right-click 2nd image link. Pick downlink link. Browser applies OC original filename. Saves typing.)))

• Phonefag: Omnichan on App Store can download/rename all images in a thread with 1 command

Lately I take whatever size image I can find and if it's too large, shrink it to 1200x something or so. If the image is a photograph or painting, .jpg with a little compression works fine. I have tried compression quality settings between 90% and 95%, lately using 95%. If the image is vector graphics (drawn with a paint program) then .png renders it better.

After, I use a program that strips out unnecessary bytes and if .png tests different lossless compression formats until

it finds the one that generates the smallest filesize. But then, I'm a memefarmer and a perfectionist and maintaining a huge archive so "size matters".

It is really worthwhile to go search out some websites that discuss image compression and learn that there is no "one size fits all" setting for image type (.png or .jpg) or compression. It all depends on the image. A minor resizing can sometimes generate a much larger or smaller image depending on how the dimensions interact with the compression algorithm. Play around, figure out your best setting for typical images, and don't be afraid to experiment and ask questions of the memefags here.

I recall this dig. Didn't we figure out, after a few days down the rabbit hole, that Jill Strzok is Peter's cousin or sister or something? Not his wife? His wife is Melissa Hodgman right? (shows that right on the image)

Anybody feel like searching qresear.ch tonite so we don't reinvent the wheel?

I'm not finding the stuff in my personal archives.
