Captcha is simply a web form add-in added directly to the code of a site. Each captcha image has a value associated with it and you enter the value you “see” then when you submit the form, the form script runs and starts with the captcha, and if your value and the image value are a match, the scripting of the webpage continues.
It’s not a separate entity, it is integrated into the form script.
